Ohio Valley Conference Tournament

March 07, 2013

Record: 54-48

Tennessee State -3 vs. Morehead State
The Ohio Valley conference continues on Thursday as Morehead State looks to build off of yesterday's win. They get the Tigers whom they've beaten twice this season 101-100 and 78-69. Because of this the line has moved from -4 to -3 which suits me well because I think the Tigers are the better team. One of the best players in the conference resides at Tennessee State in Robert Covington who scores almost 17 points per game. He did not play in the first meeting before putting in 23 points and eight rebounds in the one point loss. He's got plenty of help in Kellen Thornton and Patrick Miller who both score over 14 points per game. I think there's good value with TSU tonight who could threaten Belmont and Murray State in this conference tournament.

Southern Illinois -2.5 vs. Missouri State
Arch Madness in St. Louis as teams battle for the Missouri Valley automatic bid. The Salukis enter this one having won three straight, five of six and six of their last eight. Included in that stretch was a 62-54 win at home against Missouri State, tonight's opponent. Desmar Jackson and Jeff Early are playing good basketball right now as they enter the tourney. The Bears have lost five of their last eight games and are not in the greatest form right now. We'll take the Salukis to win this one and move on.

Long Beach State/UC Davis Over 145
The Big West regular season wraps up after two more games this week. UC Davis gets the ESPN2 spotlight as they host Big West leader Long Beach State. The Aggies lost to the 49ers 71-65 on the road back on February 20th. They play a lot better at home putting up over 70 in five straight games there and have no problems playing a game with a bit of pace. They feature Corey Hawkins and Ryan Sypkens who put up almost 35 points per game between the two of them. The 49ers are a deep team too with seven players scoring at least seven points per game. They are also relatively allergic to road defense allowing at least 70 in every game except for two which came back during the non-conference slate. This one is going to be high scoring.
