Huge Tuesday night in College Hoops

March 05, 2013

Record: 50-47

Duke -20.5 vs. Virginia Tech
It's senior night in Durham as the Blue Devils host Virginia Tech. These two teams played on February 21st with Duke having no problems in an 88-56 win. The line is around 20 because the talent discrepancy is pretty large, but there's assumed to be a hangover for Duke who is coming off their biggest win of the season. Even with the hangover, this game shouldn't be close. The Hokies have nowhere near the firepower that the Blue Devils have. They have overwhelmed opponents at home beating BC by 21, Maryland by 20 and Clemson by 28. A slow start will lead to a big finish with Duke covering the spread.

Marshall/Southern Miss over 139
This is a revenge game for the Thundering Herd after being embarrassed by USM back on January 23rd. They lost 102-46 in a game that wasn't even that close. It's not that surprising considering Marshall is allergic to playing defense. They have had defensive efforts where they allowed 103, 91, 102 and 94. This a talented bunch who can score a little bit themselves led by DeAndre Kane and Elijah Pittman. The Golden Eagles haven't been that strong defensively on the road lately giving up 82 to ECU and 89 to Memphis. This one's going over the total and quite possibly by a lot.

Ball State +10 vs. Western Michigan
We'll go to BSU for the third time this season as they are a large underdog again. We've gone 2-for-2 with them so far and they are taking on a good Western Michigan team who doesn't overwhelm their opponents especially at home. Four of their last six home games have been within the ten point margin that we see in this game. The Cardinals beat the Broncos 65-62 back on February 9th. They have won three straight and five of their last six games. We'll take them to cover the matchup as Jesse Berry and Jauwan Scaife are stellar players.
