Saturday Big Board

February 16, 2013

Good Saturday everyone. It's time for the biggest card of the weekend. In doing prep work on Friday, I found a lot of games that we liked so why not throw them all out there and let you decide which is right for you.

Record 32-30

Ball State -2.5 vs. Eastern Michigan
The Cardinals figured to fold up after losing Jesse Berry to a concussion. Instead they've won two straight and are looking for a third against Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The team relies more now on Jauwan Scaife and Majok Majok for the scoring duties. Ball State won by two at Eastern Michigan on January 9th 60-58 and have won just three times since then. EMU on the other hand has not played well on the road this season. They have not won a single game away from home. This is a weaker offense led by Derek Thompson who scores over 10 points per game. Take Ball State to win this one.

Wake Forest -2 vs. Georgia Tech
If the Demon Deacons played all of their games at home, they'd have a pretty good record. Since conference play began, Wake beat Virginia, Boston College, NC State and Florida State at home with a loss coming by five points to Duke. The Deacs will be looking for revenge after losing by 20 in Atlanta to the Yellow Jackets. They haven't been the best on the road with the only win in conference coming in Blacksburg against woeful Virginia Tech. Wake is relying on Travis McKie and CJ Harris.

St. Joseph's +5 vs. La Salle
The Palestra will be the site of this edition of La Salle and St. Joe's. The Explorers are where the Hawks figured to be before the season began. Phil Martelli's boys have struggled a bit although they have won four of their last six games. This is a matchup of a ton of athletic players although the size factor has to go with the Hawks. CJ Aiken could be an issue for the Explorers who don't have a ton of size to throw at him. Carl Jones, Chris Wilson and Ronald Roberts Jr. are a lot to handle for La Salle. I think the Hawks win this one as we finally find out the best Galloway in the Atlantic 10.

Memphis/Marshall Over 143
We had the over in this matchup when they played in Memphis and it was a winner. Taking records out of the equation, these are arguably the two most talented teams in the conference with it only showing up on the Tigers side. The Thundering Herd missed DeAndre Kane this season and have missed his firepower. Marshall has scored over 70 in four of their last five home games and put up 73 on the Tigers at their place. Memphis meanwhile won't have any problems playing at their pace either. They have put up 70 or more in four of their last six road games with one other game being at 69. This one should go up and down and be played int he 70's.

I have a few other selections that I will post on my twitter account at Brosephs950. Please check it out.
