It's a shame that my alma mater proved me right last night with their disgusting display. Not much love right now for the Orange on this Valentine's Day. There is a lot of love for today's card which I think will be a winning set.
Record: 30-29
Belmont/Tennessee State Over 140.5
A rare total in the Ohio Valley gives us an opportunity to jump on the over. Belmont has scored 70 points or more in five straight and 11 of their last 12 games this season. They are an up-tempo potent attack that few in the OVC has slowed down. The Bruins beat Tennessee State 78-66 at home back on January 19th. The Tigers have scored 80 or more in three of their last four home games and rely on Robert Covington who leads the team in scoring. This is a team that plays good defense, but may have trouble slowing down the multiple options that Belmont presents. I'll take the over in this one.
Samford Pick Over Wofford
A matchup between the Terriers and Bulldogs won't make much of a ripple in the Southern Conference. I think it represents a good chance to get a win. Wofford has not won a road game since Xavier back on December 22nd which is a span of seven straight contests. They have lost four of their last six games overall and may be hitting the wall as the majority of their team is underclassmen. Samford has lost five of their last six after winning four straight. This is another young team who doesn't have a senior on it's roster. Raijon Kelly and Tim Williams lead the way with both averaging 14.5 points per contest. I think the better team is at home so we'll take them straight up.
Hawaii +2.5 Over UC Davis
Hawaii's playing good basketball right now winners of five straight including three straight on the road. Their issue has long been playing away from the Islands and this year's team has seemingly fixed that. This is a rematch of a 93-82 loss where Corey Hawkins went off for the Aggies and Hawaii just couldn't catch up. UC Davis is just 2-3 at home in conference and has lost three of their last five games. If the Warriors are able to lock down on Hawkins and Sypkens, then they should have no problems winning this one.
